Promoting social change through art.
Healing the earth’s natural systems.
The Doris Prouty Foundation exists to honor the legacy and memory of Doris Elizabeth Prouty. Doris was a self-taught quilter and artist, the first in her family to graduate from college, and a teacher on many levels. She helped people to learn, play, heal, and do great things, to be themselves and to connect with each other. In this spirit, the Foundation supports people of color, particularly black women, to achieve their goals in education, art, social change, and climate justice.
Scholarships for People of Color
Doris Prouty was one of the first in her family to go to college, and taught herself to quilt. The DPF supports people of color as they pursue their education.
Healing the Earth’s Natural Systems
Doris Prouty sought to create a world worth living in through her interactions. The Doris Prouty Foundation supports initiatives promoting climate justice.
Promoting Social Change through Art
Doris used quilting to connect people, and let them know they were seen and loved. The Doris Prouty Foundation supports artists seeking to build community and create change through socially engaged projects.
