
She made quilts.
Part of the story we have to tell is about a woman of color who taught herself to quilt, who connected with people of all types through making and giving these quilts as gifts, and who did this for over forty years in her small sewing room on the north side of her house in Lanesville, Massachusetts. Just writing this sentence fills me up.
